Kathiravan IAS Biogrphy; C. Kathiravan is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2009 batch. He was born on 26th January 1978 in a small village called Thiruppuvanam in the Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu. He completed his early education in his hometown and later pursued his graduation in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Anna University in Chennai. But on Friday morning, C. Kathiravan, an IAS officer from the 2009 batch, passed away due to a heart attack at a private hospital in Chennai. The 52-year-old is survived by his wife K. Thenmozhi and two daughters. At the time of his passing, Kathiravan was fulfilling the role of Project Director for the Tamil Nadu Road Sector Project II in Chennai.

Kathiravan IAS Biography:

After graduation, Kathiravan cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination and joined the IAS in 2003. He was allotted the Tamil Nadu cadre and started his career as a Sub-Collector in Dharmapuri district. During his tenure, he worked hard to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people in the area. He implemented several innovative schemes to provide better health, education, and sanitation facilities to the underprivileged sections of society.

In 2005, Kathiravan was transferred to Pudukottai district as a District Revenue Officer. He played a key role in implementing several land reforms and revenue generation programs. He also worked towards the welfare of farmers and helped them to avail themselves of various government schemes and subsidies.

In 2008, Kathiravan was posted as the Collector of Tiruvallur district. He faced several challenges in this region, including water scarcity and lack of basic infrastructure. However, he tackled these problems with his innovative ideas and dedication towards his work. Under his leadership, Tiruvallur became one of the most developed districts in Tamil Nadu.

In 2010, Kathiravan was transferred to Chennai as the Joint Commissioner of the Corporation of Chennai. He played a crucial role in implementing several projects to improve the living conditions of the citizens of Chennai. Some of his notable initiatives include the construction of flyovers, the renovation of the Marina beach, and the cleaning of the Adyar river.

In 2013, Kathiravan was appointed as the Managing Director of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). He introduced several reforms in the organization, including the digitization of the ticketing system, the installation of GPS tracking devices in buses, and the launch of an online booking portal. These measures helped to improve the efficiency and transparency of the TNSTC.

In 2016, Kathiravan was promoted to the position of Secretary in the Department of Agriculture. He worked tirelessly to promote sustainable agriculture practices and increase the income of farmers. He also played a key role in implementing several schemes to support the cultivation of millets and other traditional crops.

Kathiravan was serving as the Secretary of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department in Tamil Nadu. He was known for his honest and transparent approach to governance and was widely respected for his work in the field of rural development.
