Khan Sir Patna, the renowned Indian educator, possesses a unique talent for simplifying complex topics in General Science, captivating students with his native teaching style. Widely celebrated in India and across the globe, Khan Sir Patna, whose real name is Faizal Khan, was born in December 1993 in Bhatpar Rani, Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. He received his early education at Parmar Mission School in his hometown.

During his eighth grade, a strong sense of patriotism awakened within him, igniting a desire to join the Indian Army and serve his country. He attempted to gain admission to Sainik School after class VIII but faced disappointment as he did not pass the entrance exam. Undeterred, he completed his high school and intermediate education. Khan Sir had been a member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) since secondary school, allowing him to gain insight into the Indian Army.

His determination to join the army persisted, and after completing his intermediate studies, he attempted the National Defense Academy (NDA) entrance exam. Given his consistent academic excellence, he passed the NDA exam but faced an unfortunate setback during the physical efficiency test due to a medical condition related to his hands. This medical ineligibility shattered his dream of serving in the army.

Following this setback, Khan Sir relocated to Allahabad (now Prayagraj) and earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree from Allahabad University. His journey through college was financially challenging, but he received unwavering support from his friends Sonu, Pawan, and Hemant, who contributed their pocket money to help him complete his education. Hemant, in particular, had financial difficulties, and he taught younger students to improve his financial situation.

Inspired by his friend Hemant, Khan Sir also ventured into teaching to support himself financially. Together with Hemant, he started offering tuition to younger students, alleviating their financial woes. One of Khan Sir’s students, initially struggling academically, saw significant improvement under his guidance and began ranking first in the class, earning praise from the student’s parents.

Due to Hemant’s influence, Khan Sir accepted a teaching position at a small coaching center. Initially, he had only six students in his class. However, Khan Sir’s unique teaching style quickly gained popularity among students, and soon, a multitude of students flocked to his classes. As the coaching center’s enrollment swelled, so did its revenue. However, a disagreement arose when the coaching management disapproved of Khan Sir’s decision to teach children at very low fees. Consequently, he left that coaching center and joined another.

While pursuing his post-graduation at Allahabad University, Khan Sir continued to teach at various coaching centers. Upon completing his Master of Science (M.Sc) degree, he relocated to Patna. Establishing his own coaching center, Khan GS Research Center, was a daunting challenge, as his new partners in Patna sought to exploit him financially. At one point, he had just 40 rupees left, but his determination and faith in his mission prevented him from returning home.

Gradually, Khan Sir’s coaching center gained traction, thanks to his effective teaching methods. Today, his classes are attended by over 2000 students, with some even standing for hours due to limited space. In 2019, to cater to the growing demand and the interests of his vast student base, Khan Sir Patna launched his YouTube channel, Khan GS Research Center. His teaching style on YouTube, characterized by simplicity and humor, has garnered him approximately 15 million subscribers and millions of views on his uploaded videos.

To further facilitate online learning, Khan Sir introduced an application on the Google Play Store during the lockdown. His online classes have been met with immense enthusiasm, at times causing his app to crash due to the overwhelming number of students trying to access his valuable content.

Khan Sir Patna’s teaching philosophy can be summarized in his words: “If a child has to be taught, explain it in his language, in simple words. Like a child is coming after watching a film. The more fun he gets after watching the film, the more fun he gets from the coaching institute.” Khan Sir’s dedication to making education enjoyable and accessible has made him a beloved and influential figure in the world of online education.
