He later earned his degree in metallurgical engineering from IIT Kharagpur, where he is recognized as a distinguished alumnus. Pichai furthered his education with an M.S. from Stanford University in materials science and engineering and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received prestigious accolades as a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.

Career Beginnings and Rise at Google Sundar Pichai:

Pichai embarked on his career as a materials engineer and gained experience in engineering and product management at Applied Materials. Following a brief stint at McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, Pichai joined Google in 2004. In October 2020, Pichai, along with other tech industry leaders, was subpoenaed by the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation to testify on concerns over the industry’s exemption from Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1934.
